Looking ahead to growth in this market, the pavilion aims to promote co-creation and collaboration that reach beyond the home appliance and housing industries to the IT and electronics industries.

About the DX Pavilion for Everyday Life

This pavilion brings together eight diverse companies and organizations that stay close to consumers’ everyday lives — including EDION Corporation, TIGER Corporation (exhibiting at CEATEC for the first time) and solution providers — to offer a place where visitors can experience first-hand the future of everyday life powered by leading-edge digital technology. To raise the profile of smart home technology and everyday-life DX services across industry as a whole, the pavilion lets visitors experience the latest smart home developments: examples of solving social challenges such as disaster prevention and mitigation, an area drawing growing attention against the backdrop of national resilience; cybersecurity measures for IoT devices; and common standards for network connectivity. Through this, it aims to encourage market entry and turn co-creation into reality.

The EDION IoT Platform: Supporting Richer Lives and Stronger Communities

Under the theme of “connecting home appliances to support richer lives and stronger communities,” EDION presents new user experiences made possible by IoT appliances on a multi-vendor platform. The booth features user experiences designed around daily life, joint initiatives with manufacturers that only a major retailer can offer, and plans for using collected data to address local issues in partnership with municipal governments. For many people, seeing a parent who lives far away happens once a year at most. Tiger addresses that quiet worry with a monitoring approach that turns digital data into warm communication. The booth introduces everyday care built into rice cookers and kettles, the “Oyakoko” (Parent-Care) Pack offered together with EDION, and an ecosystem in which ordinary daily data becomes part of disaster-preparedness infrastructure — exhibits designed to bring a little warmth to society.

Following on from last year, live demonstrations show devices from different manufacturers working together seamlessly under Matter, the global standard for smart homes. New this year is the first public showing in Japan of Aliro, a new smart key standard that unlocks doors hands-free as you approach, with no need to take out your phone. Disaster Medicine — When the Power Goes Out, a Life May Go With It: New Options for Home Care Through Portable Power Stations and Electric Vehicles

Exhibiting jointly with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and with the cooperation of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), we present work on securing power for home medical devices during disasters. On display are JEITA’s survey report on the safe use of medical devices in disaster situations, MLIT’s revised manual on supplying power from electric vehicles to medical devices in disaster situations, and survey responses from patients, families, and caregivers. Demonstrations using portable power stations and EVs show how home medical care can continue safely even in an emergency.
