Company Introduction

Haptics Explores The World of IoA (Internet of Actions)

On the history of automation, the true importance of “haptics” (a technology to implement tactile sensation to a machine) had not been understood. An abandonment of haptics causes a difficulty in further advance in automated machine, or may even result in threatening the safety and security of the process. Haptic Research Center (HRC) introduces a simple method to install haptics to the automatic system and proposes a way to collaborate a man and a machine in more intuitive way. A man has strength in their decision-making and flexibility. A machine has its strength in capability of power output. Haptics is a method to implant both of them into automatic machines. In our exhibition, we demonstrate the world of “Internet of Actions (IoA)”. A unique concept to cooperate man-machine integrated action over internet network. In our booth, you can understand the ability and possibility of the haptics with our robotic manipulators.

Haptics Sensitive hands

In out exhibition, we display master-slave robot hands for you to experience a particular task with haptic sense and without haptic sense. By manipulating the master system, the slave system performs a holding task and a replacing task. When the haptics is turned on, you can hold an object as if you are directly touching it. When the haptics is turned off, the same task becomes extremely difficult to achieve. You can sense the difference when you touch, please try.

Open Stage”Haptics Explores The World of IoA (Internet of Actions)"

開催日:10/4

Time:Oct.7 (Wed.)12:20-12:35
Place:Exhibition Theater
Speaker: Haptics Research Center,Kouhei Ohnishi, Professor

Professor Kouhei Ohnishi, who invented a patent about principle of haptics, will speak about "an innovative approach to difficulties in industry and future visions with unique technology". Unfortunately, automatic machines are not good at touching objects while they are capable of performing the same task repetitively. If robots can make contact "with care”, they are welcomed from the society. In particular, demand for the help is increasing for tasks in house keeping, hospitals, and schools. The problems due to lack of younger people and skilled worker may be eased with the help of robots. "Soft robotics" is an essential technology that improves robots so they can gently touch both soft and hard objects. Comprehension and effectual use of the technology achieves to emphasize a human-motion by magnification and reduction.

Next-Innovation Session”Haptics Explores The World of IoA (Internet of Actions)"

開催日:10/6

Time:11:00-12:00
Place:Room105, International Conference Hall
Speaker:Akira Nagashima,Project Professor

When we hold an object,we hold it with experiencing either it is a soft thing or a hard thing. The sensation we have just experienced here is“haptics, something missing in robots today. An abandonment of haptics causes a difficulty in further advance in automated machine, or may even result in threatening the safety and security of the process. In addition, robots that are capable of performing human-like motion in unstructured fields are hoped to be developed. In particular, rescue, medical, and construction are main fields. Haptics Research Center introduces a simple method to install haptics to the automatic system and proposes a way to collaborate a man and a machine in more intuitive way.Superior motion of experienced persons can be digitalized into data contents with our technology. We aim to distribute those contents over internet cloud and develop the world of“Internet of Actions".

Time:Oct. 7 (Wed.)15:40-16:10(A6)
Place:Stage in the universal city area

Knowing the hardness/softness of objects enables humans to touch with “care”. That is haptics, what robots do not have today. Human-like action by haptics is required in unstructured fields, such as rescue, medical, and construction applications. With the integration of ICT technology, Haptic Research Center (HRC) introduces a simple method to install haptics to the automatic machines. Humans have strength in decision-making, while robots have strong power output. An intuitive collaboration of strength of humans and machines creates a suitable system for practical requirements.

Advance in manufacturing is supported by a collaboration of humans and machines. While the machines have been updating, skills in humans are now aging. Haptics Research Center (HRC) achieved comprehensive visualization, remote operation, and data reproduction of human skills by haptics. Success in haptics enables to human-skills into digital contents. We will distribute them over internet cloud (Internet of Actions).
