The Futuresource Consulting CE team, Mr. Simon Bryant, Mr. Jack Wetherill and Mrs. Rasika D'Souza will share the latest worldwide CE industry and consumer research, highlighting key trends and opportunities in in the world in consumer electronics (CE).
The three presentations, with simultaneous Japanese-English interpretation, will explore:
・As the mobile market slows and CE value migrates to software and platforms, we consider the mid to long-term outlook for consumer electronics.
・As large categories such as TV and mobile reach saturation and BRIC’s fail to deliver, we explore the prospects for geographic growth and key sectors of innovation such as smartwatches, smart-home, virtual reality (VR) & 360 video, augmented reality (AR), voice, and flexible displays?
・We will also explore the seismic shifts in CE competition in recent years, and the growing influence of Western vendors and China within the CE competitive mix.
Spotlight on audio & headphones
・We shine a spotlight on the darling of CE which is beginning to witness a slowdown despite low penetration in many regions of the world - we explore the outlook for this important CE category and the opportunity for voice and smart-home features in this market.
Spotlight on smart-home
・One of the key prospects for CE growth remains formative with many products being
launched and numerous vendors, large and small, burgeoning for position. We present some key conclusions from our latest consumer survey and market report.
We propose the vision of future sports augmented with technology through discussion by the Director of Superhuman Sports Society - the organization creating the new style sports “Superhuman Sports” which aims jumping over our limitation by fusing human and machine as “device-integrated human” - and CEO of meleap inc. – developer of techno-sports “HADO” , using AR, sensing and networking technology -.
We proposed a Social CPS concept in the research project “CPS Integrated IT Platform for Optimizing Social Systems and Services” supported by MEXT of Japan, aiming for the optimization of social systems and services by CPS/IoT. In the project, we conducted researches on basic technologies for CPS construction as well as demonstration tests for POC (Proof of Concept). In this presentation, the significance of Social CPS and the CPS design concept are discussed, followed by the discussions on future prospects of Social CPS referring the findings of the POC experiments.
As a result of the recent world-wide uproar of Pokemon GO, geo-location services are becoming well-focused and expected to be widely deployed soon, and demands for wearable computing using Pokemon GO Plus, Apple Watch, and HMDs are becoming rapidly strong. In this talk, the lecturer explains such wearable computing in town and shows its future.

The Digital Living Network Association(DLNA) has recently published DLNA guidelines, called DLNA 4.0, that improve the media sharing experience of consumers in their homes. DLNA 4.0 enables
consumers to easily share audio, video, and photo media among devices,
including smart phones, smart TVs, and PCs. It also supports streaming and sharing of internet media within the home. DLNA 4.0 has major features to improve interoperability, so that devices
easily share media without user intervention. These DLNA 4.0 features are especially important because of the large variety of new media formats which
consumer devices are now using.
In addition, DLNA 4.0 enables
state-of-the-art home networks. Energy efficiency is supported through the use
of power state signaling. Also, IPV6 deployment models are now supported. In addition, reliability is improved because advanced diagnostics
capabilities are introduced to DLNA 4.0
This session will explain these advances in media sharing technology, and will answer questions about DLNA 4.0
