Information security issues in the "Ubiquitous society"

"Ubiquitous society" is now glowing rapidly. This society shall guarantee "security", "safety" and "trusty" for all citizens those who join into the society. However, we can easily perceive that the "security" in this society is not respected as highest prior issue. Some people are working only to realize "technically possible" or "legally possible" as they please, and are not acting for "ethically right". I would like to look at information security issues in the ubiquitous society again, under above situation.

HDD future possibilities in the Consumer Electronics Market
"The Pipeline and the Tank"

The global entertainment industry is undergoing a tectonic shift as its content transforms from analog to digital formats. This shift is both driving - and being driven by - new consumer expectations of control, ownership and acquisition. Understanding the dawn of the digital consumer era is as simple - and as compelling - as understanding how media "pipelines" deliver entertainment in radical new ways, and how media "tanks" are central to the success of the connected entertainment world. In this presentation, Mr. Pait will explain how the growth of these media pipelines and tanks will impact the consumer's experience with entertainment, the producers of such entertainment, and the device manufacturers that enable the age of the digital consumer.

Blade Server Market Trends in Japan

It has been three years since blade servers were introduced to the domestic market. Initially, these servers were used as clusters for scientific technical calculations by research institutes or as edge servers at data centers. Today, they are used in a wide range of applications as all-purpose servers.
The Server Systems Platform Special Committee under the JEITA Servers and Workstations Committee conducted a demand analysis of blade servers to investigate their introduction rate, actual usage, and prospective areas of application and compiled results. In this presentation, I will report on these results.

Analysis of Recovery Time vs Sleep Wattage of EP printers / MFP's

Using JEITA 2004 EP new-product-research data, the relations of "Recovery Time vs Sleep Wattage" etc have been analyzed. While an expected negative relation between recovery time and sleep wattage ( = more time with less wattage and vice versa) has been found in a part of product categories, a number of unexpected relations have been revealed. Based on the analysis in product categories from Mono-SFP to Color-MFP, a new energy-saving criterion with consideration of usability is considered.

EA guide

Enterprise architecture (EA) is a framework first developed in the US, which combines business strategies and IT strategies, and is recently attracting attention also in Japan as a way to achieve comprehensive optimization of entire operations and systems of enterprises. The Solution Services Standardization Special Committee under the JEITA Solution Services Committee has compiled guidelines to help private enterprises in introducing the EA framework (EA Introduction Guide). The Guide gives 1) possible approaches depending on individual situations of enterprises, and 2) systems, human resources, and skills required. I will present the results of the survey conducted last year on the private sector's interest in and expectations for the EA framework, as well as a survey on actual cases where the framework has been introduced.
