CEATEC Japan 2012 Starts Tomorrow, October 2 (Tue), at Makuhari Messe!
The CEATEC JAPAN Executive Board, which comprises three organizations - the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan (CIAJ), whose Chairman is Setsuhiro Shimomura, Chairman of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation; the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA),whose Chairman is Ryoji Chubachi, CEO and Vice Chairman of Sony Corporation; and the Computer Software Association of Japan (CSAJ), whose Chairman is Shigefumi Wada, President of OBIC Business Consultants Co., Ltd. - is pleased to announce that CEATEC JAPAN 2012 - the Cutting-edge IT & Electronics Comprehensive Exhibition, will be held over a five-day period from October 2 (Tuesday) to October 6 (Saturday), 2012, at Makuhari Messe (Mihama Ward, Chiba City).

This year there will be a total of 624 companies/organizations (including 161 foreign companies/organizations from 19 countries/regions) exhibiting at 2,288 booths. These numbers (exhibitors & booths) exceed those for last year's show.

From digital networking to smart innovation - today, our individual lifestyles, our businesses, and our overall social infrastructure are increasingly connected via networks, making society smarter and more efficient. This is a worldwide phenomenon.
This year's CEATEC JAPAN will showcase technologies and products that are creating new markets thanks to the increasingly close links between such diverse industries as IT & electronics, automotive, energy, medical/healthcare, agriculture, and housing. CEATEC will show the world Japan's smart innovations made possible by progress in IT and electronics.
At the Lifestyle & Society Stage, technologies, products, and services that make people's lives more comfortable and smarter will be exhibited.
This B2B zone showcases the latest business trends in ICT. The exhibits and seminars are divided up into theme plazas, including the Cloud Computing Plaza, the Chamber of Commerce Business Square, and the Research Park. The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) will have a booth.
The Key Technologies Stage showcases the world's cutting-edge electronic components and devices, which play key roles in house appliances and automotive vehicles. On display will be the latest developments in parts and applications, demonstrating a very high level of sophistication.
This B2B zone showcases the latest business trends in electronics. The exhibits and seminars are divided up into theme plazas, including the Power & Energy Plaza, the Wireless Plaza, the Embedding/Built-in Technologies Plaza, the M2M Plaza, and the Programmable Device Plaza.
*CEATEC Awards
The CEATEC Awards will be expanded this year to include the Minister of Internal Affairs Award and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. These awards recognize innovative excellence demonstrated by the technologies, products, services and systems exhibited at the show.
Announcement/Award Ceremony: 12:00 October 2 (Tue) at the Hotel New Otani Makuhari
For each of the 4 categories, a Grand Prix award and a runner-up award will be announced and presented to the winners. A further category is decided by media ballot, and the judges will also select the winner of their Special Award.
Announcement: October 3 (Wed) at 10am. Results will be posted on the official website and at the CEATEC JAPAN venue entrance; a press release will also be distributed.
Awards Ceremony: October 4 (Thu) from 10am at the central entrance, Makuhari Messe.

With the spotlight on the three fields of "mobility," "energy" and "medical/healthcare," which are becoming increasingly smarter thanks to technological innovations in IT and electronics, special events and conferences will be held, making available the latest information.
