Vol.003 OTAX Corporation will exhibit products in new areas including looseness free function screws, health-related device, and a vein authentication device at CEATEC JAPAN 2011.
Established in 1979, OTAX Corporation has used its theme of "OTAX contact technology" to reinforce its reputation as a specialized industrial switch maker. And specifically, OTAX is recognized as a world leader in the manufacture of DIP (dual in-line package) switches.
We asked Yoshitaka Yoshimura, Group Manager of the Business Development Group at OTAX about his company and here is his response:
"OTAX Corporation has been using technologies accumulated through the development of switches to expand its product lineup, which currently includes sensors, terminals, connectors, and test sockets. We have recently moved into new areas such as control panel units and aluminum product lines, and also began manufacturing screws this year to develop a comprehensive array of products including loose-proof screws. These screws are scheduled to be introduced together with our original terminal blocks. At CEATEC JAPAN 2011, we will be exhibiting newly developed products such as the loose-proof screws, health-related equipment and a vein authentication apparatus along with our existing technologies."

"One of OTAX's must-see items at CEATEC JAPAN 2011 is most certainly its DIP switches. We currently produce about 1,000 different models of DIP switches with total production running at about 10 million units per month, making OTAX the global industry leader. In addition to our half-pitch DIP switches first developed in 1991, we plan to exhibit our traditional dual-in-line DIP series including slide, piano, and rotary types, single-in-line SIP switches, the hybrid DIP switches with internal resistor and diode , as well as certain new low-profile, ultra-compact and economical units at CEATEC JAPAN 2011. We will also be announcing new products at CEATEC JAPAN 2011 so by all means, please come and enjoy our exhibit."
Expanding the product lineup
"As a company already referred to as "OTAX for DIP switches", we offer about 5,000 different types of industrial power switches in the product lineup, and our original switches are standardized. Also notable is that we currently hold a reputable position with a 20-year track record as a supplier of sensors that we began developing early in our corporate history, especially for medical devices applications such as measuring the concentration of oxygen in the blood, etc.
In other areas, we are continuing to develop customized terminal blocks for air conditioners, FA use, and test sockets. For customized terminal blocks, our main factory in China enhances cost-savings for customers as it is established as vertical-integrated system, which encompasses design, manufacturing and distribution. Additionally, we are renowned for customizing test sockets and connectors in specialized areas that offer advanced performance and the latest features."

"We have recently begun to explore the field of control panels with complex forms derived from discrete units and are developing this area of business focusing on customized orders from printer manufacturers. We are also strengthening our aluminum product lineup, and are currently producing approximately 350-thousand chassis units per month for all types of devices including LCD TVs, mobile phones, digital cameras, DVDs, and audio products. Our aluminum manufacturing is integrated all the way from production through to press processing, polishing, sandblasting, hairlining, inspection and packaging.
