IEICE Tokyo Section Symposium

Capable of supporting various fields such as energy, transportation, healthcare and agriculture, ICT is expected to become a social infrastructure which can create new industries. In recent years, attention is especially paid to the M2M (Machine to Machine) communication technology.
In this symposium, the social role of "M2M communication technology" will be overlooked from the viewpoint of application, and the issues in creating new social infrastructure will be discussed. The first part will address ICT applications and the expectation for future M2M technology in healthcare field, firstly. Then, several experts who are playing leading role in "New Generation M2M Consortium" and "Broadband Wireless Forum" are invited to introduce the current situation and issues of M2M in various applications such as "Public Mobile network field", "Sensor network field", and "Home network field".
In the second part of panel discussion, the topics of "What should the M2M communication technology do now?" and "What are the issues regarding creating a true social infrastructure" will be discussed aiming to the new creative society.
