NEW PRODUCTS

cosel introduces new ac-dc converter 'lfa series/ pma series'. lfa series is our main model from 10w to 300w, and this series is smaller, lighter and higher efficiency than previous series (lfa series). also, pma series is very suitable power supply to medical equipment which requires iec60601 (medical safety standard). this series completely satisfies the condition for medical safety standard which is 4kv isolation voltage and internal dual fuses.

cosel introduces new global standard isolated dc-dc converter mg/mgf series.
mg series is small and light compared with our previous product zu series, and has long-term reliability and high efficiency.
and mg series can meet the requirement for various applications by their wide input range and overwhelming variation.

single phase downsizing emi filter ea series was developed. decreasing of 50% in the volume and 30% in installation area have been achieved compared with old type. 30% of the amount of the co2 exhaust by the resource saving was able to be reduced by the miniaturization (ratio of our company). the miniaturization became possible by making good use of unique case design development and the thermal design for the miniaturization. moreover, not only the miniaturization but also the wiring man-hour decrease was achieved by adopting self improvement terminal block with the slide cover.

OKI Enhances Range of Thermal Characteristics Analysis for Semiconductor Devices

TOKYO, September 29, 2010 - OKI Engineering, an OKI Group company offering reliability assessments and technical solutions in the field of environmental protection announced that today it has expanded its range of thermal characteristics analysis services for semiconductor devices. A service that measures the thermal resistance and heat capacity of power devices and optical devices will be available from today.

Recently, heat generated in electronic equipments can possibly have a big influence on the malfunction and the breakdown of electronic equipments etc. by the high integration and the density growth of semiconductor devices. Therefore, it is very important to accurately grasp the thermal characteristics of a new semiconductor device at the design stage. Generally, TEG is used to measure its thermal resistance at the design stage, However, TEG method can only measure thermal resistance of an entire semiconductor device and thermal resistance values often deviate between the semiconductor device itself and the device that is assembled in an equipment. Additionally, preparing TEG is time-consuming.

"Based on our expertise and experience in reliability test and analysis, we have been providing services that precisely and rapidly evaluate the thermal characteristics of relatively small power semiconductor devices since December 2009," says Yutaka Asai, President of OKI Engineering. "Now, with our expanded thermal characteristics analysis services, we have enhanced the scope and are targeting power devices and optical devices that require large amount of electric power. Deploying a unique measurement method, these services evaluate and analyze thermal characteristics per composite materials of semiconductor devices. This approach eliminates the need of a TEG and allows rapid measurements and flexible response to changes of materials."

Ladybug Robot and Beatle Robot

Ladybug Robot and Beatle Robot can be programmed without using a computer. In these days of computers, the internet and mobile phones, you may think that programming something to move with just black and white squares on a piece of paper is like magic. It takes a bit of work but it's a lot of fun.
There are four sensors on the bottom o the PCB plate of the Ladybug Robot. The sensors can "see" objects 1mm ahead and can tell the difference between white and black objects. Using this function, you can teach the Ladybug Robot command patterns written on program cards to make the robot perform various program.

New Series of Gyro-sensors for Vehicle Attitude Sensing- XV-9000 series

Epson Toyocom Corporation, the leader in crystal devices, today announced the development of a new series of compact, reliable gyro-sensors (angular rate sensors) capable of withstanding temperatures as high as 125℃. The new XV-9000 series of gyro-sensors is designed for vehicle attitude sensing applications in the automotive industry.
Product samples will become available in September 2010. Volume production is scheduled for December 2011.

More and more vehicles are coming standard-equipped with driving safety devices as calls for safer vehicles grow louder. The United States, Europe, and Japan have all introduced legislation mandating that vehicles be equipped with active safety systems such as electronic stability control (ESC) to detect skidding and correct vehicle attitude. In addition, manufacturers are increasingly installing passive safety features, such as rollover protection systems that detect vehicle rollovers and side curtain airbags. These safety systems, which have to be able to correctly sense skidding, rollovers, and other hazardous vehicular behavior, are driving growth in demand for gyro-sensors that detect changes in attitude by measuring angular velocity.

The XV-3700CB offers a high scale factor and wide sensing range

Epson Toyocom Corporation, the leader in crystal devices, today announced it has completed commercial development and launched volume production of the XV-3700CB, a high-sensitivity gyro-sensor with a wide detection range that has been optimized as an input device for motion user interfaces.

Sensing the motion of persons or objects more accurately requires that angular velocity be sensed over a wide range, from slow speeds to fast. Ordinary sensors, however, have not been able to simultaneously provide both a wide sensing range and good stability and noise characteristics.
The XV-3700CB retains the low noise level and outstanding bias stability of Epson Toyocom's current XV-3500CB and, on top of this, can accurately sense motion over a wide range by simultaneously outputting two modes, a high-speed mode (sensing range: ±1500 deg/s) with a nominal scale factor of 0.8 mV/(º · s-1), and a low-speed mode (sensing range: (±300 deg/s) with a nominal scale factor of 3.624 mV/ (º · s-1).
Used for analyzing human motion or as an input device for a motion user interface that accurately senses, for example, the attitude of a radio-controlled helicopter, the new gyro-sensor will help improve the performance of devices designed for motion sensing applications, such as controllers and 3D mice.
