Green IT Promotion Council
The Green IT Promotion Council introduces the latest Green IT trends of Japan and the world.

At a press conference held on Thursday, July 22nd,Yasuhiko Nishizu, the operating committee head of the Green IT Promotion Council presented the council's scheduled activities at CEATEC JAPAN 2010. During this time, Mr. Nishizu announced that the council's participation in this year's CEATEC JAPAN will evolve around the following four events - the Green IT Award, Green IT Pavilion, Green IT International Symposium, and Asia Green IT Forum.

What is the Green IT Promotion Council?

IT and electronics technologies are very much anticipated to contribute greatly to the realization of a low-carbon society by making production and logistics more efficient while enhancing operations via advanced control management. On the other hand, the energy-saving capabilities of IT equipment are becoming a vitally important issue as the volume of information handled by society increases significantly with the full-scale dissemination of IT.

In these circumstances, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan proposed the Green IT Initiative to realize a society where environment protection and economic growth were two compatible objectives. Based on this initiative, the Green IT Promotion Council was established on February 1st, 2008 through a cooperative partnership between governmental agencies, industrial concerns and academic institutions.

In addition to enhancing economics, society, and every aspect of people's lives, the Green IT Promotion Council continually strives to undertake activities that help to realize the idea of, "energy savings of IT and energy savings by IT".
