The exhibition outline of CEATEC JAPAN 2010, the Cutting-edge IT & Electronics Comprehensive Exhibition, has been announced and this year's theme is, "Digital Harmony-Technologies for comfortable and eco living."
On Thursday, July 22nd, 2010, a press conference was held to present the exhibition outline of CEATEC JAPAN 2010, which will run at Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba) from October 5th (Tue.) to 9th (Sat.). This year marks the eleventh CEATEC JAPAN since its inception in 2000 and the exhibition theme is, "Digital Harmony - Technologies for comfortable and eco living." Japan's Monozukuri (manufacturing) culture strives to merge technological development with fulfillment in all aspects of life - a synthesis that creates harmony between technologies, products, services, and content, adding impetus to enhancing the global environment, society, businesses, and lifestyles. Anticipation is high for CEATEC JAPAN 2010, which will showcase how the digital society is augmented by the integration of diverse fields, and many members of the press and media gathered early at the press conference venue.
Significant interest in Smart Grid
As a representative of the three sponsors, Yoshiyuki Sukemune, the Executive Director of the Communications and Information network Association of Japan (CIAJ), began his presentation by introducing the three new challenges of CEATEC JAPAN 2010: 1) Creating exhibits related to Smart Grid; 2) Organizing a seminar for the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE); and 3) Establishing a special BtoB zone, the new CEATEC Suite. Mr. Sukemune then continued by saying that, "At this year's CEATEC JAPAN, I would like everyone visiting to experience the dawn of new generation."
Hidehito Takeichi a member of CEATEC JAPAN 2010's Executive Committee, then took over the podium to present the general overview of the event. In his message, Mr. Takeichi announced the challenges of the next decade and industry developments for the following three years by describing these objectives: 1) Increasing the value and power of gathering and transmitting information; and 2) Enhancing business effects by elevating CEATEC JAPAN above its traditional role as a conventional tradeshow and facilitating a host of diverse international business opportunities by incorporating MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition) initiatives. He went further to state that specific show dates are now clearly differentiated to better match the needs of both exhibitors and visitors. Mr. Takeichi then concluded by enthusiastically encouraging industries such automotive, energy, and health to participate more in CEATEC JAPAN exhibitions.
Next, Yasuhiko Nishizu, head of the Green IT Promotion Council's Operating Committee, presented the council's outline and direction for this year, as well as its scheduled activities at CEATEC JAPAN 2010.
Guest speakers from the automotive industry to make appearances
Jiro Irie, the Secretariat of CEATEC JAPAN Management Office, next addressed the media by covering topics such as features of the CEATEC Suite, the number of visitors and new trends, and linkage with the automotive industry, in a question - and - answer format. Jens Heithecker, the Global Executive Director of IFA Consumer Electronics Show (Berlin, Germany) - a global partner of CEATEC JAPAN - then made a presentation of the show, which will be held in September 2010.
While a number of keynote speeches are scheduled to be held between October 5th and 8th, it was announced that two important guest speeches - one by Osamu Mashiko, President of Mitsubishi Motors, and the other by Mitsuhiko Yamashita, Executive Vice President of Nissan Motors,will be presented on October 5th, 2010 , the first day of the event.
The size of this year's CEATEC JAPAN (number of exhibitors and booths) is expected to surpass that of the 2009 exhibition with sponsors anticipating up to 200,000 visitors in total during the event. Pre - registration on or before September 17th at the official CEATEC JAPAN 2010 website to attend the show will also enable seats for keynote speeches to be booked online.
