Promoting Japanese-style smart-grid developments to realize a low-carbon society
 

The Smart Grid, a next-generation system using IT to efficiently manage the demand and supply of electricity, is gathering attention as a new market. This year's CEATEC JAPAN show will promote a Japan-style Smart Grid system featuring environmental technologies related to green IT, saving, creating and storing energy, the Smart House, electric vehicles (EVs) and social infrastructures. In addition, a 3D theater introducing cities of the near-future coupled with smart grids will be unveiled. At the same time, the test driving EVs will be conducted.

Transforming visual, information, and communications technologies
 

Topics such as changes in broadcasting conditions and user viewing habits related to Japan’s complete migration from analogue broadcasting to digital broadcasting on July 2011 will be highlighted at CEATEC JAPAN 2010. Visitors can also discover the interconnectability of various terminals that link through networks, highly anticipated new communications services, and the latest mobile PC models introduced at the Touch & Try corner.

Connecting Japan’s Monozukuri to the next generation
 

To broaden business potential, CEATEC JAPAN 2010 will highlight the initiatives taken to advance IT & electronics industries through collaboration with local communities, as well as cooperation between venture companies, research and academic institutions. Efforts to enhance Japan’s Monozukuri by promoting academic-industrial alliances as the means to assist in the development of human resources will also be showcased.

IEICE (The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers)
 

The IEICE (The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers) will organize the related Workshops at CEATEC JAPAN 2010 in October in conjunction with CEATEC organizations. The workshops will consist of the following four keynote themes and three single themes. The IEICE Workshops aim to give opportunities of presentation and discussion on various technical areas covering electronics, information and communications. This first trial of collaborative relationships between CEATEC and IEICE make IEICE activities more active by the mutual cross-attendance in which the CEATEC attendants can join in the IEICE Workshops and the IEICE attendants can join in the CEATEC exhibitions.

The CEATEC INNOVATION AWARDS, “As Selected by U.S. Journalists”
 

The CEATEC INNOVATION AWARDS, “As Selected by U.S. Journalists”, which is comprised of an independent advisory panel of six U.S. journalists, will review and recognize significant technologies, products and services based on innovation and potential influence in the U.S. market. The results of the panel’s award decisions and detailed reports on the awardees will be made available to the world through the participating media.
