A panel of judges comprised of journalists related to IT and electronics fields in the U.S. reviewed and recognized significant technologies and products exhibited at CEATEC JAPAN 2009. Based on innovation and potential influence in the U.S. market, the panel chose the winners of the CEATEC INNOVATION AWARDS, “As Selected by US Journalists”, and the awards ceremony was held on October 7^th.

How the awards are selected

Approximately three finalists from each of the six categories were selected from the technologies, products or services that were on exhibit at CEATEC JAPAN 2009. From these finalists, a total of seven winners ― one each from the six categories and one for the Green IT Technology Special Prize ― were decided, out of which, the most distinguished entry was selected by the panelists and awarded the Grand Prix. As a result, the Green IT Technology Special Prize was presented to Hitachi’s “Various Energy-saving Technologies for LCD Displays” while the Grand Prix was awarded to Sharp’s “mirumo Mobile Phone Equipped with Memory LCD”.
