<title>3Di Enters into PaaS/SaaS Markets Using Cloud Computing</title>
            <link>http://www.ceatec.com/2009/en/news/exhibitor_detail.html?press_id=00115</link>
<description>3Di Inc., which develops and offers 3D Internet solutions (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Satoshi Koike. Hereinafter referred to as 3Di.), announced today its intention to use its newly-secured funding in order to enter PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service) markets by providing a 3Di platform and applications as services through cloud computing.

3Di has been mainly focusing to date on development and offering of 3Di OpenSim (*1), its server software for the construction of 3D virtual worlds, and 3Di OpenViewer (*2), its original viewer software embedded into HTML web pages to view and interact with 3D virtual worlds in web browsers. With its recently announced capital increase worth around USD $5 million, 3Di aims to expand its business offerings to include PaaS/SaaS services, such as a 3D conference system, by utilizing cloud computing. 3Di also intends to continue further development of virtual world functionality and to expand its service line-ups to fulfill user needs.

Cloud computing services would allow enterprises to deploy 3D virtual worlds without needing to invest In their own hosting hardware infrastructure. By expanding its business to offer both software and cloud computing services, 3Di intends to increase the adoption of 3D Internet technologies by enterprises.

            <title>Epson Toyocom Develops Ultra-Accurate, High-Stability TCXO</title>
            <link>http://www.ceatec.com/2009/en/news/exhibitor_detail.html?press_id=00124</link>
<description>Epson Toyocom Corporation, the leader in crystal devices, today announced the development of a highly accurate new TCXO (temperature-compensated crystal oscillator) that has an OCXO-class frequency/temperature coefficient of +/-0.1 x 10-6, enabling power and space saving in network equipment.
Samples of the new TG-5500CA oscillator will become available in December 2009. Commercial development is scheduled for March 2010.

Reference clocks used in ultra-compact cellular base stations for home and office use require high accuracy, with a frequency/temperature coefficient of +/-0.1 x 10-6 or better. Core network equipment, meanwhile, requires stability of +/-4.6 x 10-6 over a period of 20 years. Obtaining this class of frequency tolerance/stability normally requires the use of a highly stable oscillator in the OCXO (oven-controlled crystal oscillator) or atomic oscillator classes.

The TG-5500CA, in addition to being equipped with a QMEMS crystal unit, has an original structural design that takes into account thermal conductivity and that stabilizes the frequency/temperature coefficient and long-term ageing characteristics.
Frequency-stability characteristics that affect the quality of transmissions, such as temperature tracking and frequency fluctuation, have also been dramatically improved compared to our conventional 7.0 x 5.0 mm TCXO.

The improvement enabled frequency tolerance/stability that is one rank above that of current TCXOs. The TG-5500CA can thus be used in applications that were formerly reserved for OCXO-range devices. Using a TCXO instead of an OCXO can significantly help reduce the power consumption and size of systems.
The TG-5500CA can also be used to improve the performance and function of systems that employ an existing TCXO, but it is exceptionally well-suited for use in core network equipment, such as femtocell base stations and Stratum 3 products.</description>

<title>KYOCERA's Crystal Etalon Filter: Selection of Wavelength Temperature Coefficient</title>
            <link>http://www.ceatec.com/2009/en/news/exhibitor_detail.html?press_id=00139</link>
<description>Kyocera Corporation has developed a crystal etalon filter, a component in optical telecommunications systems for large-volume data transmission, that prevents dense wavelengths of light from interfering with each other by sensing deviations between multiple wavelengths.
This is the industry's first crystal etalon filter that allows users to select a wavelength temperature coefficient within the range of 5.4 to 15.7pm/C. From October 1, Kyocera will offer samples of this product in two temperature coefficient types (5.4pm/C and 15.7pm/C).
The WDM* transmission system, with its capacity to send more optical signals (information) per single optical fiber, is becoming the mainstream method of meeting such demands. Tunable laser modules are developed in a range of configurations to further increase optical signals, leading to the need for crystal etalon filters, which possess wavelength temperature coefficient ranging from low to high and are optimal for any configuration.
The new product was created by Kyocera Kinseki - a wholly -owned subsidiary of Kyocera engaged in the development and manufacturing of crystal devices - with the company's advanced technology for analyzing at sub-pm levels, data on optical characteristics accumulated over years of research, and its technology for developing high-definition, high-quality synthetic crystals. With the development of this new product, for the first time in this industry, a crystal etalon filter is able to assign arbitrary figures as a wavelength temperature coefficient ranging from 5.4 to 15.7pm/C.
This development enables more flexibility in designing tunable laser modules capable of increasing optical signals emitted, while contributing to higher precision, and better wavelength stability and reliability.

<title>Succeeds in Developing Next-generation Highly Efficient Coiled Power Inductor</title>
            <link>http://www.ceatec.com/2009/en/news/exhibitor_detail.html?press_id=00135</link>
<description>~Realizing One Quarter the Size of Older Models (4mm square) and Twice the Electrical Current~

a developer and manufacturer of electronics parts, has announced that it has succeeded in developing a next-generation coiled power inductor (2.5x2.0x1.2mm). Mass-production is slated to begin in April of 2010. In recent years, the personal electronics markets, including those for cell phones and smart phones, digital cameras, etc., have continued to advance the need for smaller, thinner products with more features and more advanced functionality. To respond to these demands, we have worked to develop smaller, thinner products using low-resistance coils and highly dense flat power lines as well metallic magnetic materials that resist magnetic saturation and can be used for direct currents.

The coiled power inductor we've developed is approximately eighty percent smaller in element volume size than our older model (4mm square). It was developed using proprietary materials, structures and methods (for which we have filed patents). We've also succeeded in improving the current values by a factor of two or more, with a wide inductance corresponding to 10microH. In addition, by combining the coil and the core into a single unit our design was able to drastically reduce the audible noise normally associated with coils.

Principal Applications
cell phones, smart phones, digital still cameras, etc.
