CEATEC JAPAN 2008 Has Ended. And It Certainly Was the Ideal 5-Day Event to Experience the Industry's New Theme, "Digital Convergence - Onwards To A New Stage."
CEATEC JAPAN 2008 ended on October 4th and it was a great success. The first two days of the event were a bit cold and rainy so turnout was unexceptional but from October 2nd, the beautiful autumn sky returned and the number of visitors skyrocketed. There were 54,569 visitors on the fourth day of the event, which was a record-breaking number of visitors for a one-day period, and the total number of visitors for the entire five-day period reached 196,630. These figures certainly reflect the popularity of CEATEC JAPAN and we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who helped to make CEATEC JAPAN 2008 such a tremendous success.
There were many environment-conscious exhibits on display.
The theme of this year's CEATEC JAPAN was, "Digital Convergence - Onward to a New Stage", and it was the third year in a row that the show focused on digital convergence. There were a great number of outstanding exhibits and programs at CEATEC JAPAN 2008 that exemplified this theme to the many visitors.Even more than in the previous year, slimmer and larger-screen displays and mobile-related equipment were exhibited at the Digital Network Stage. These popular products attracted a great amount of attention as they exemplified the theme of digital convergence as seen by the integration of automotive and communications equipment with home appliances such as televisions and consumer electronics.
At the other venue, the Electronic Components, Devices and Industrial Equipment Stage, various sensor technologies and other products such as the newly developed MEMS that showed how advanced technology can be applied to lots of new products. At both stages, many environment-conscious products and technologies were also on display, clearly showing the industry's focus on reducing C02 emissions via new IT/digital technologies.
The Special Exhibit/Event stage, which was divided into three areas focusing upon the theme of "Connection", attracted the interest of many visitors. Three areas at the Special Exhibit/Event stage offered different "Connection" themes: "A New Stage of Connecting People" was for NGN (next generation network), mobile networks, and content; "A New Stage of Connecting Technologies" was for automotive, nano-technology, and Monodzukuri in Japan; and "A New Stage of Connecting to the Next Generation" was for preparation of the digital broadcasting era and global environment technologies linking this generation to the next. In addition, a number of projects from government agencies including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry were on display.
Further globalization is accelerated.
This year's CEATEC JAPAN also featured many family-oriented events. And because the final day of the event was on Saturday, the events attracted a huge audience of all ages who came to participate in the science workshops and tournaments held in both event halls as well as exhibitor booths. CEATEC JAPAN will continue to offer such family- and student-oriented science-learning events to help promote interest in science, which has been declining recently.
Another big difference from the previous years was the increase in media coverage of TV broadcasting, etc. The number of media personnel visiting CEATEC JAPAN was the highest ever this year and the volume of overseas media coverage also increased, which was a very good sign for CEATEC JAPAN as it strives to become more international.
Visitors' opinions such as, "I gain more information for my business when I visit CEATEC" and the words of exhibitors such as, "The true feelings of customers can be discovered at CEATEC", are just some of the feedback that will help us to make the show even better in 2009. And we sincerely hope to see everyone back here at CEATEC JAPAN next year.
